Tine’s time-out

Boweaver is a yellow-dog Democrat. He was wound up at breakfast about retiring Rep. Paul Tine of Dare County.

Tine, who switched from Democrat to Unaffiliated and joined hands with House Republicans this session, has announced he’s not running again. He maintains he was undaunted by the prospect of running as an Unaffiliated, because he said the Democratic Party hadn’t given him any money in past campaigns.

That set off Boweaver. “Hell, maybe the party itself didn’t, but a lot of us Democrats did. I went to a fundraiser for him right here in Raleigh, and I seem to recall he was happy to take our Democratic checks.”

Boweaver shook his head. “He turned his back on us. Maybe we should ask him for our money back.”
