Ryan and Biden bidin’ their time

Paul Ryan and Joe Biden are playing high-stakes poker. Who will hold and who will fold?

Biden still isn’t decidin’ whether to run for President. But he’s taking shots at Hillary Clinton just as she’s getting a poll bump from her debate performance. And Biden seems to be rewriting history on what he told President Obama before the Osama raid.

Just as when he ran in 1988 and 2008, Biden’s biggest enemy is proving to be Biden’s big mouth.

A lot of Democrats are thinking, “Don’t run, Joe. You’re holding a losing hand.”

Ryan’s playing hardball with the hardball conservatives in the Republican House caucus. He says he’ll be Speaker, but only if they promise him total control, no dissent and no interference with his family time.

That’s nice work if you can get it. And Ryan’s holding a pretty good hand.

Then Harry Reid deals himself into the game. Reid announces that he hopes the Republicans will pick Ryan, because he can work with Ryan. Which is probably enough to turn the Freedom Caucus into the Frothing Caucus.

Ryan’s thinking, “Thanks a lot, Harry.”
