Wasn’t it great to see the Big Dog back again?
There was Bill Clinton – out of the doghouse and back in the limelight he so loves. Grinning. Biting his lip. Hugging Al Gore!
Bubba looked great. White hair shining. Aides (the small, dark-skinned guy was John “Skippy” Podesta, ex-Clinton COS and Obama transition aide) trailing in his wake. Tearful women thanking him. And a ridiculous-looking little dictator preening in his presence.
Then there came the usual lineup of grim-faced Republican commentators muttering darkly about America
(Will these guys ever learn how far a smile instead of a scowl can take you in politics? I grant you they won’t give Clinton
There is another lesson here. About Barack Obama.
Obama is self-assured enough to not only let Hillary Clinton be his Secretary of State, but also let the man who trashed him in South Carolina last year conduct unofficial diplomacy in North Korea this year.
Republicans hope that Obama Care 2009 will be a replay of Clinton Care 1994. They remember winning big that year. But they forget that Clinton America
