Are You Safer Today?

Ronald Reagan won the presidential debate – and probably the election – by famously asking a simple question in 1980: Is America safer, stronger and more respected in the world today than four years ago? This election bears asking the same question.

We know now that North Korea has the bomb. Here is what President Bush said about that in March 2003:

The United States “will not tolerate nuclear weapons in North Korea.”

Well, he has and he is.

Bush invaded Iraq because he claimed Saddam had WMDs. He was wrong.

Now we know Kim has WMDs. What will Bush do? What can he do?

Former Senator Sam Nunn of Georgia says Bush attacked the wrong end of the axis of evil.

Clearly, it’s time for a change. It will come this election. And it looks like Jim Baker – back in his familiar role of pulling Bush nuts out of the fire – will be in charge of changing the course.
