    Jim Black paid a legislator $50,000 in cash for his vote to make him Speaker of the House, in effect nullifying the results of an election in which the opposition party had won a majority fair and square. His was perhaps the worst crime ever committed against the people the North Carolina, and his punishment was so inconsequential that you could almost say he got away with it. Worse, all of the legislation passed by his illegally constituted House of Representatives continued in force.

    Speaker Tillis, on the other hand, is guilty of….what, exactly?
