This week’s headlines tell a tale of the priorities and problems of North Carolina’s top three Republicans.
Governor McCrory, like all new governors, is focused on getting his cronies into state jobs and frustrated that he can’t fire current state employees fast enough. (A TAPster noted that McCrory’s off-with-their-heads story came out on State Employee Appreciation Day. Nice timing, Guv!) Unfortunately for him, state employees are skilled at exacting their revenge on Governors.
McCrory’s big story this week – his drill-baby-drill visit to Texas – was overshadowed by Senator Berger’s tax reform package. That’s not the first time Berger has upstaged the Governor; the last time was on education reform. Coincidence? (No, there are no coincidences in politics.)
Predictably, the House and the Governor will be happy to let Berger walk out onto the tax limb, and eager to saw it off. Already, Berger had to back off his ambitious plan to abolish income taxes.
Tillis, for his part, was warning his Republican flock about overreaching just as they were overreaching on guns. One young TAPster noted: “Great. More guns at bars, college campuses and sporting events – the places where I spend 90 percent of my time.”
It took the Big Three less than four months to start stepping on each other’s toes. They obviously learned from the Democrats.

President Obama stated one of second term priorities would be “making America a magnet for new jobs and manufacturing.” A huge job. In the 2000s, we lost 5.7 million manufacturing jobs with 58,000 plants closed.
The Permanent Normal Trade Relations bill in 2000 started the off shoring.
We have regained 500,000 manufacturing jobs since early 2010.
We read of jobs returning but just in trickles.
The people want a national strategy outlines on how to make things in America which built a healthy middle class.
Good luck Mr. President. Bless you.

As to ''removing state employees'', Gary, your comment coming from a former top operative for Jim Hunt is ludicrous.
In Hunt's takeover from both GOP Governors Holshouser and Martin, he moved very quickly to eliminate not only all the policy making employees but virtually every Republican in sight, including many in non-exempt career positions. McCrory, by contrast has been extremely slow about putting his people in the key policy positions. Taking over from Martin, Hunt demanded that all Deputy Secretaries, Assistant Secretaries, General Counsels, and Communications Directors be gone on the very first business day of his administration. Some Democrat holdovers in those positions are still in office under McCrory. Hunt took a bit more time replacing Division Directors, Section Chiefs, etc. but he went through like a buzz saw at that level, too. He even effectively killed one section chief. When Hunt's DHR Secretary called in the Child Day Care section chief and deputy section chief to fire them, the section chief had not expected that and the stress caused her to have a heart attack in the Ladies Room at the DHR building which was fatal minutes after the firing. This woman was not even a Republican, was a woman minority (Lumbee), and had even attended Hunt campaign functions during the campaign. Her sin was to work in a policy level position in a Republican administration.
Unlike Martin and Hunt, McCrory is hiring many non-members of his own party in policy level positions, something that causes gnashing of teeth among GOP activists (and it should), so sometimes one wonders what ''his people'' are. There are even a number of people who held high level appointments in Democrat administrations who have been PROMOTED to higher level positions by McCrory.
Then there is your portrayal of state employees. While many individual state employees are indeed hard working professionals, their association has changed dramatically and in a negative way in recent years. It is now a local of the extremely radical left wing union SEIU, that is almost Marxist. Before the SEIU hookup, it used to be moderate and at least somewhat non-partisan.
As to guns, more guns in the hands of good guys in society, means that bad guys, who are mostly cowards, will be much less likely to commit attrocities.

OBAMACARE + MINIMUM WAGERS
Wendy's changed projected cost per store from $25,000 to $5000 per year.
Popeyes have had only 5% sign for it at only $2.50 per week.
Low wagers will be forced to choose: pay the premiums or pay the penalty.
January 14, millions will get affordable coverage for the first time.
This should lessen the load and costs of emergency care.

They may bid to obtain the Bankrupt Chicago Tribune for,, to them, a measly $625 Million.
They would then spread their Libertarian Views via Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Baltimore Sun and Orlando Sentinel.
They have already done long term damage for the Middle Class by financing the election of 50 Tea Party members to the House to Cut Government for the middle class -Cut taxes for the rich.

1945-1980 democrats worked hard in creating a successful middle class
that had jobs that paid enough to afford a nice home,
Health Care and Education for children.
Since 1980, it has been decades of loading them with debt in order to afford a middle class life style. Since 1980, the top 1% had an 281% after Tax income increase and middle 20% got 25% which was less than. Inflation. The wealthy had the money to loan and took advantage of it.
The Outsourcing of our Manufacturing Industries was biggest sham and hit on the middle class and decent paying jobs.
The Tax Code was loaded with goodies for the rich and corporations
There is a series of Solutions to reverse course before we go over that cliff.
Progressive Flat Tax by Group. Tax Total Income not AGI with the loads of exemptions
Assure a progressive Flat Tax that will balance our budget and start paying down that horrid Republican created Debt of $15,800 Billion
Fed fund campaigns and election—6 months—3 primary 3 general—free equal tv time—No personal or outside money. Debate a week=12-=adequate to evaluate candidates
Since no need to raise campaign funds keep em on job not on road.
Ban ALL federal employees from accepting anything with a financial value.
This closes K Street Bribery.
It give middle class a chance to win an election since they cannot be bought.
Burn the tax book—It gets enough revenue $1300B that immediately balances our budget.
Start anew—Exemptions must serve a common good not fat wallets

Um...just who, exactly, is this so-called TAPster and where did he/she "note" what you are saying here that he/she said?
I think you make a lot of stuff up, Gary.
