My Democratic friends are not only ecstatic about Tom DeLay’s fall, they are certain it presages the fall of the Evil Empire.

They’re convinced a Democratic “tidal wave” is about to engulf Washington and restore our party to its rightful majority in Congress.

I’m afraid they’re wrong. Three reasons:

1. Voters don’t believe Democratic politicians are any less corrupt than Republican politicians.

2. As I’ve said before, my party has an Achilles heel on protecting America against terrorists. Every day I wake up in fear that Howard Dean will start screaming that Saddam Hussein isn’t getting a fair trial.

3. Democrats – unlike the Republicans in 1980 and 1994 – don’t have a clear message for change.

“Had enough?” is sometimes enough to win. But not this year.

Gary - do you think if maybe Democratic stretegists quit announcing that Democrats “have no plan” the people might actually look at the plans we have produced?

All this negativity from someone claiming to be a Democrat. You have done nothing more than repeat the false GOP talking points. “Democrats” like you are the real achilles heel of the party.

1) The polls tell a different story than you on corruptness
2) I think it is painfully obvious that this administration has failed to prepare for a terrorist strike (e.g. port security, failure of Katrina response). And the war in Iraq is creating more terrorists everyday.
3) The Republican “plan” in 1994 came six weeks before the election and was generally unheard until after the election, when people decided that they did not like it. Also, there are Democratic plans on the vast majority of the issues out there. Again, they have time to put them together before the election. Quit trying to sink their ship now.

Actual numbers on who voters trust to clean up Washington are here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12243327/from/RSS/. And the numbers show that Gary is wrong when stating that voters do not see a difference:

Democrats also hold a six-percentage-point advantage over the GOP (49 percent to 43 percent) as the party most trusted to handle the economy. Their lead swells to double digits on such as issues as immigration (12 points), prescription drug benefits for the elderly (28 points), health care (32 points) and dealing with corruption in Washington (25 points).

25 point difference in who can handle corruption as opposed to Gary's no difference. For a more accurate forecast of the upcoming elections, check out www.bluenc.com.
