I have to say that I find it curious that when we "Tapsters" post on the front page, it takes as much as 3 or 4 days before our responses are shown when you and Gary get their posts up immediately. Well, I guess you own the site and don't really have the say-so when/if a response gets posted...leaving it to Luther, I guess. Whatever.

Love that McCrory is tasking the professors within the UNC system. They've had carte blanc really with what they say and in their "service" within the North Carolina higher education system. They can..and do...present their "progressive" beliefs unchecked and they can or cannot be good professors once tenured. It's just such an antiquated belief to actually think that people in power should be responsible and show achievement and prove they're worthy of their position isn't it? I mean, who are we to question them, y'know?

I graduated from Elon College many moons ago (now Elon University). I had professors that actually followed the belief that you showed up for class, participated in class and passed your tests. Yes, some of them had left-leaning beliefs but they allowed us to present our beliefs regardless and graded us on our presentation rather than our content. Today? Not sure that's true. Colleges and Universities shouldn't be about what's right or wrong politically. They should teach subject matter...nothing more.
I'm elated. I got my post presented almost immediately. How refreshing. Hope that continues. Thanks, Luther.
McCrory didn't say (as the dishonest News and Observer would have you believe) that a liberal arts education was a bad thing. He said, quite rightly, that the heavily subsidized UNC system needs to be held accountable for a return on the public's considerable investment, via jobs. The way to do that is to put more emphasis on those fields that contribute most to the state's prosperity and economic development. If we don't do that, we will not have the resources in the future to continue to pour into our state university system.
