The professional dissemblers of the left wing, such as Gary and Chris Fitzsimmons, have invested years of effort in ginning up hatred of Art Pope. A sane and sensible society would be revolted by the lies, distortions, and malicious character assassination routinely practiced by the Democrats against this thoughtful, decent man. But this is North Carolina after 100-plus years of virtual Democratic Party dictatorship, so anything goes, apparently.

I can't wait to watch the in-state AND national media go after each and every move Art Pope makes...every idea he presents and puts up for consideration. Can't wait to see the pictures in the newspapers, on the news broadcasts and emails sent out by the NCDP of homeless people, kids being presented in dire straights because of what will be portrayed as Pope/NCGOP policies...etc. One misstep, one rare exception where someone needing help and actually deserving it not receiving it and it'll be nightly news for weeks and over-and-over presentations on it in every form of media we have INCLUDING big radical leftwing websites like www.bluenc.com here in NC and www.dailykos.com nationally. It will get ugly. I hope Mr. Pope is ready for the ugly politics that he's about to have to endure.

Now, saying that.....I think this is a BRILLIANT choice. Kudos, Mr. Governor-elect.
