So, what you're saying is that what Governor McCrory should do is whatever is politically expedient...screw what's right or best for the people.

I only have to THANK GOD that I never chose politics as my career.

Get $$$$ out of government Here is how

A. Fed Fund Election—6 months—3 primary 3 general—free equal tv time—a debate week=12=adequate to evaluate candidates---No $ used—Outside limited to little
B. No need to campaign ---BAN--all govt employees from accepting anything with a financial value
Progressive Flat Tax by group—14,000B Income is plenty to pay our way and pay down debt ---huge Estate Tax ---problem is 50% get 87% ---change tax code—there are 1300B in exemptions That is why GE paid no tax in 4 of 10 years
Simple—The people will love it

I keep reading comments over and over naming Democrats as big spenders and taxers.
Individual Income--top incomes pay most but how much of income is key.

2009 Individual Income Taxes

top10%=paid 18% Tax Rate--got 43% total individual income AGI.
top 25%=paid14.68% Tax Rate--got 65.8% total individual income
top 50%=paid12.5% Tax Rate--got 86.5% of total individual income.
70,000,000 workers got 13.5%--paid 1.85%

A 35% Effective Tax on top 10% will balance our budget in 2013 fiscal year

Spenders----Reagan increased spending by 80% and Bush II by 90%
Debt--+189% under Reagan and 112% (doubled) under Bush II
Jobs--Carter + Clinton got 222,000 per month
Reagan + Two Bushes got 99,000 but added 9000B to a 1000B Debt.

Obama is projected to increase spending by 2-8%. Lowest since Great Depression
Bush left with 3520 Billion spent in 2009
Obama 2013 budget calls for 3800 but may be lower.

Swinney, you're right about how many "conservatives" and republicans try their best to present democrats..the democratic party...as the only ones that are big spenders and taxers. That's ludicrous, of course, because there is just too much evidence that BOTH parties tax and spend to excess and have for many decades.

Having said that, my concern now...NOW...is what can be done about the dilemna we find ourselves in because of that? Is the current direction being taken the answer? Does anyone honestly believe our leaders (both republicans and democrats) are willing to take the necessary steps to stop the massive accumulation of debt we are seeing due to all sorts of unnecessary spending and borrowing? There just HAS to be a reign-in on military expenditures around the world. There just HAS to be a new attitude on entitlement spending. If not, we're going to watch the demise of what we've always known as America. We became great for a reason. We became an economic giant for a reason. Our citizens were instrumental in developing so much of the progression into the "electronic age". Yes, government helped, don't think I don't know this. But, those that used subsidies and grants and so forth used them wisely in most cases ("most" being the operative word, of course). But, just sheer inginuity (sp?) and hard work and so many other "American"-specific traits made our country the most successful and probably the most long-lasting system ever in human history. To go away from that into what just so many other countries have gone to in failure is sad. We can only tax so much, Clarence. We can only ask those that succeed to contribute to those that don't. Eventually, the money will be gone and we'll just be one more nation that tried to make everyone equal at the expense of those that work tirelessly to be achievers and developers and risk takers and, yes, big taxpayers. You love statistics. Check out the amount of revenue the top 10% earners in our country give to the Fed. It overshadows the bottom 90% in a HUGE way. Now...we're asking for just more and more and more. Eventually, that money runs out, my friend. It may give us some good times in the near run...but in the end, the proposals being sought after currently will push our country into sad days for everyone except the ruling elite...and, yep, that ruling elite includes as many democrats as republicans. If you can't see what I'm saying, then at least I've had the opportunity to present it to you.
